GCT Semiconductor launches first Single-ship CMOS RF Transceiver
for CDMA2000 Mobile handset applications

True monolithic single-chip solution features a highly integrated
RF transceiver with GCT's industry-proven CMOS RF technology

SAN JOSE, CA, October 9, 2007 - GCT Semiconductor, Inc., a leader in innovative integrated circuits for the wireless communications industry, today launched a highly integrated RF transceiver for CDMA2000 applications. The new GRF6401, the first monolithic single-chip CDMA transceiver available on the market, includes a fully integrated receiver and transmitter for 800 MHz cellular band operation, offering over 36% size reduction and nearly 40% BOM count reduction versus competitors' solutions. It also includes programmable output power circuitry and a sigma-delta fractional-N frequency synthesizer with VCO and loop filters. GCT's GRF6401 is specifically designed to interface with VIA Telecom's cdma2000? CBP baseband family of products.

"We are very pleased to add this new solution to our line of cutting-edge RF CMOS transceivers," commented Dr. Kyeongho Lee, CEO of GCT Semiconductor, Inc. "Current CDMA solutions in the market today consist of the receiver and the transmitter in two separate chips. Combining these two chips into one monolithic die is a particularly challenging task for CDMA applications where the radio must operate in full-duplex mode. We are proud to be the first company to offer this true single-chip and cost-effective solution to handset manufacturers."

"We are pleased to be working with GCT Semiconductor and reaffirm our commitment to "open RF architecture" for our CBP family of products," said Dr. Ker Zhang, CEO of VIA Telecom. "This new radio integrates analog, digital and RF functionalities to provide size and power optimized alternatives for CDMA handsets manufacturers. VIA Telecom and GCT have worked closely together to make sure this new product operates seamlessly with VIA Telecom's cdma2000? CBP baseband family of products."

GRF6401 is housed in a 48-pin 7mm by 7mm QFN package. The new transceiver includes three key components: a receiver, a transmitter and a PLL. The receiver offers all functional blocks from the RF front-end to the baseband interface, a down-conversion mixer for the 800 MHz band, baseband filters, as well as gain-controlled amplifiers and an analog I/Q output suited for zero-IF interface. The transmitter uses I/Q conversion architecture with an analog baseband I/Q interface, up-conversion mixers and preamplifiers. The on-chip PLL includes a VCO, a sigma-delta fractional-N frequency synthesizer, and built-in loop filters providing fast and stable lock behavior. Samples and production quantities are available now.

GCT plans to develop additional RF transceivers that will mate with other basebands in VIA Telecom's CDMA product roadmap. GCT is also developing advanced multi-mode RF and RF+BB solutions for 3G and 4G RF technologies such as W-CDMA, MDTV and WiMax.
