Dr. Paul H.J. Kim, Chairman of the Board

Dr. Paul Kim is the Chairman of the Board and founding investor in GCT Semiconductor.  He is the Managing Director of Parakletos Ventures, a venture capital firm based in the Silicon Valley with strategic investments in Korea, China, India, and the US.  Dr. Kim was the first investor in Silicon Image, a semiconductor company which became the 6th largest IPO on the NASDAQ in 1999.  He is also the founding investor in EChina, which merged with Wumart, now one of the largest discount retail chains in China.  Other significant investments include Power Computing, acquired by Apple Inc, and Techwell Inc., which went public on on Nasdaq.  He also currently serves as the Chairman of Anapass Semiconductor and Brovis Networks.  Prior to Parakletos, Dr. Kim was Executive VP at KTIC, Korea’s first venture fund, and founded the Kim Law Firm where he served as counsel to clients like Samsung and LG. He is the Executive Director of Church Growth International which is an educational arm of the Yoido Full Gospel Church, the world’s largest church, led by Dr. Yong Gi Cho, where he has been an elder since 1990.

 

Dr. Kyeongho “K.H.” Lee, President and CEO

Dr. Lee has served as GCT's Chief Technical Officer since 1999 and became President and Chief Executive Officer in 2001. "K.H." holds 17 separate U.S. patents relating to GCT's direct conversion architecture and RF technology. Dr. Lee has authorship credits on eleven separate white papers or presentations dealing with communications semiconductor design, and was the winner of the Distinguished Dissertation award in 2000 from Seoul National University -- a tribute to his leadership in the wireless industry. Prior to founding GCT Semiconductor, Dr. Lee worked at Silicon Image where he created and patented the architecture behind Silicon Image's PanelLink flat panel display technology, which became a worldwide standard. K.H. holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University.

 

Bill Byun, Board Member

Bill Byun is a Managing Director of Samsung Ventures, based in Silicon Valley office.  Bill currently serves as a board director of number of private companies in USA, China, Taiwan and Canada.  Prior to Samsung Ventures, Bill worked as an operations executive with Philips, KLA-Tencor, and Applied Materials (Etec Systems).  Bill received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from University of California at Santa Barbara and an MBA from Oxford University.

 

Kary Eldred, Board Member

Kary Eldred served as a Principal for Parakletos Ventures for over nine years and was involved in several significant investments which included GCT Semiconductor.  Kary currently sits on the board for the Living Stones Foundation, a Christian charitable fund with over $100 million in assets.  Kary received his BA from Baylor University and has an Executive MBA from IE in Spain.

 

Gerald A. Poch, Board Member

Gerald Poch is the Founder, Chairman, and Managing Director of FirstMark Capital.  Jerry is responsible for investments in infrastructure and serves as a senior member of FirstMark Capital Investment Committee.  Prior to founding FirstMark Capital, Jerry was a Senior Managing Director of Pequot Ventures.

 

Greg Rossmann, Board Member

Greg Rossmann serves as the representative for Pequot Capital’s investment in GCT and is a former Managing Directors at The Carlyle Group and Pequot Capital.  Prior to Pequot, Greg served as managing and partner at Broadview International L.L.C, and was manager of new business development at Dynatech Corporation. He is a co-founder of Telemaster Corporation and a former engineer at Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.  Greg earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and a M.B.A. from the University of Santa Clara.
